Sale Types are a standard set of system options that can be used at FOH to classify a sale (eg. Dine In, Take Away, Pick Up, etc) and automatically append a header and order number to the production jobs. Using Sale Types also triggers certain prompts for staff when processing a sale. There are eight system-defined POS Sale Types as described below.
While it is not possible to create new Sale Types, Polygon POS users are able to customise the name displayed for each Sale Type and configure the behaviour when used at POS.
This means that custom work flows can be created to suit your business. You will be able to choose what details the POS will prompt for, what the label for that prompt will be and whether the entry of data is to be enforced. You may also specify whether orders for specific sale types can be saved, or if they must be finalised.
From Polygon POS Management,
Select Products from the main menu and select Sale Types.
|

The following options are available from the POS Sale Types File:
•To Edit a POS Sale Type - click on the Change button to access the POS Sale Type Details form;
•Reload List - Clicking this button will refresh the displayed data and show any changes made by other users;
•To Print - Clicking on the Print button generates a PDF report which shows the currently listed Classes. This report can be saved, printed or converted to CSV format;
Sale Types can be used to group sales information in such a way that suits your business. For example, your customers may order at the counter and then choose between eating in or taking away. You may also have a drive through window and take orders over the phone. In this instance, you may use Sale Types: Dine In, Take Away, Drive Through and Pick Up.
Some Sale Types are assigned automatically by the system, and some Sale Types trigger a user prompt when they are selected. The table below describes how each Sale Type will operate at FOH for Legacy POS users.
Polygon POS users should see the section below Configuring POS Sale Types for instructions on how POS Sale Types can work for you.

POS Staff may be instructed to classify a transaction with a Sale Type before finalising or saving a new sale. See the following sections for information about configuring POS Sale Type keypad buttons and POS Sale Type Management keypad buttons.
If a staff member proceeds to finalise a sale and a Sale Type has not been selected, the POS system can be configured to enforce selection of a Sale Type from a pop up list before allowing the transaction to complete. See POS Terminal Settings for the relevant system setting to enable this.
|
While some Sale Types are still system assigned (Table Service, Web Ordering and None) and others are assign by the POS User the configured behaviour and workflow can be configured to operate as best suits your business.
To do this:
•Use the Change button to access the POS Sale Type Details form.
