Security roles define how a BOH user can use the Polygon POS Management and Polygon Back Office software by enabling and disabling features for specific users. Each BOH user can have their own security role, or a group of BOH users can share the same role. Security roles can be added, modified and removed from the User Security Roles File.
Note: Only users who have been granted the Manage Security Roles application wide permission and the File > Application Settings main menu permission are able to access this form. This page describes how to create new, and modify existing security roles.
From Polygon Back Office or from Polygon POS Management, Access Application Settings by either, pressing "Ctrl + A", or, selecting File from the main menu, then selecting Application Settings, Access the User Security Roles File by selecting Security from the left of the window, then clicking the Line Item icon

The following options are available from the User Security Roles File:
•To create a new User Security Role - Click on the New or New From button to access the Security Role Details form, then fill in the appropriate user permissions;
Handy Hint: To make data entry a more streamlined process you can take advantage of the New From function. By selecting an existing security role and clicking on the New From button, a new security role can be created which copies the selected security role, then only the permissions which differ from the selected role need to be changed. This is useful in when adding a security roles which shares many of the same characteristics as an existing security role.
•To modify an existing User Security Role - Highlight the security role, then click on the Change button. This will load the form Security Role Details form where the desired changes can be made;
•To delete a User Security Role - Highlight the role and then click on the Delete button. Note: Security Roles which have been assigned to a BOH user account can not be deleted until all user accounts which use the role have been assigned to a different role or have been deleted.
•To Print - Click on the Print button. This will generate a report showing the currently listed accounts. This report can be saved, printed or exported to a CSV file.
•Reload List - This button is used in multi-user installations where multiple users may be entering data at the same time. Clicking this button will refresh the displayed roles and show any changes made by other users.
•Assigning Security Roles to BOH User Accounts - Once a security role has been created, it can be assigned to one or more BOH user accounts from the BOH User Details form.
