INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRINTER MAINTENANCE
If the POS printers need to be switched off for any reason (change paper, change ribbon, clear paper jam etc) you need to instruct the system to ‘hold’ any information which is directed to that printer. This information will then be printed when the printer is once again on line.
If you do not ‘hold’ the printing while the printer is switched off, any data sent to that printer may be lost.
‘Holding Printing’ During Maintenance Downtime
•On the terminal which controls the printer you wish to switch off, choose the System Settings button from the toolbar.
•The POS Terminal Settings window will be displayed. Under POS Terminal Details, highlight Printing.
•Tick the Temporarily Hold Production Printing on local ports tick box. Then click Close. A message will display asking you to confirm this action. Choose click ‘Yes'
•You may now switch the printer off and carry out whatever maintenance is required. When finished, switch the printer back on and ensure that it is ‘on line’.
•Return to the Printing section in the ‘POS Terminal Details’window on the terminal, take the ‘Temporarily Hold Production Printing on this Terminal’ tick off and choose ‘Close’ to exit the window. Any dockets which were sent to the printer during its downtime will now be printed.
