Polygon POS (Front of House)

The Front of House (FOH) refers to the point of sale area where sales transactions take place.  Using terminals at the FOH you can take orders, accept payments, generate reports and manage staff clock on/off times.  

 

The FOH includes the following features:

Staff Log On/Off - If you require the system to track sales against specific staff members and enhance security features, you must ensure that either Multiple (Keypad Based) or Multiple (PIN Based) log on mode is configured for your terminal.  Each staff member can be assigned a staff account from the Back of House (BOH).  See section Staff Log On/Off for more information about using the Staff Log On/Off feature at the FOH;

Floorplans - The floorplans feature uses a graphical system for managing table orders.  Tables are colour coded to indicate how the table is currently being used.  Tables can be opened to view or change customer orders.  See section Floorplans for more information about using Floorplans at the FOH;

Product Keypad Screen - The product keypad screen displays menu items and allows POS staff to record customer orders by clicking on these items.  See section Product Keypad Screen for more information about using the Product Keypad Screen to enter sales;

Bill Settlement Screen - The bill settlement screen is used to record payments and finalise sales using cash, EFTPOS, loyalty cards, gift cards, client accounts or management accounts.  Split billing and tips features are also available from this screen.  See section Bill Settlement Screen for more information about using the Bill Settlement Screen;

Clearing a Sale - This option is used to remove a sale from the system and is most often used to perform refunds.  See section Clearing A Sale for more information on this topic.  

Cash Drawer Management - The Cash Drawer Management feature enables a staff members who are assigned the Cash Drawer Manager privilege, to allocate a cash drawer to a particular POS staff member for at the start of their shift, then log them off and finalise the cash drawer at the end of the shift.  See section Cash Drawer Management for more information on this topic;

Setting POS PLU Levels - The FOH till program allows finite control, at floor level, for the amount of kitchen stock or portions per PLU item available.  See section Setting POS PLU Levels for information about how to enable this feature and how to limit the number of sales allowed for one or more menu items;

Broadcasting Messages - As well as printing kitchen production dockets, kitchen printers can be used to carry messages from the POS Area.  See section Broadcasting Messages for information explaining how to send messages to all kitchen printers from a POS terminal;

Closing Procedure - At the end of the trading day (or at the end of each trading shift) you will need to obtain a Z-Read printout to allow you to balance and reset the terminal. Bundy Clock - Polygon POS Management includes a bundy clock feature which allows you to manage staff clock on and clock off times at the FOH.  If you use the Polygon Payroll add on module, the BOH can also be used to generate time sheets and manage staff payroll.  See section Time & Attendance for more information about using the FOH Bundy Clock Feature.  

FOH Reports - POS terminals provide a number of reports relating to sales statistics and POS terminal management.  See section Reports > FOH for more information about the reports available form the FOH.  

Applying Updates - When configuration changes are made at the BOH e.g new products are added.  An update must be sent from the BOH to apply these changes at the FOH.  See section Applying Updates for instructions explaining how to apply updates which have been sent from the FOH.

Troubleshooting Information - See section Troubleshooting Information for information about trouble shooting steps which can be helpful in the case of POS terminal failure.  

FOH Hardware & Terminal Settings - The FOH Hardware & Terminal Settings is primarily used by Redcat staff.  It provides hardware and software configuration details.
