Polygon POS Management allows finite control, at floor level, for the amount of kitchen stock or portions per PLU item available. This is commonly known as the ‘specials countdown’ feature. It means that at the start of a trading session, the number of serves available for a particular item can be programmed, and this item will ‘countdown’ each time it is recorded as sold. If you choose to use POS PLU Levels, the Enable PLU level tracking setting must be enabled from POS Location Settings > PLU Level Tracking. You may also choose to enable the Deny sales if PLU level balance is zero setting which will not allow further sales of PLUs if the level reaches zero.
To set the POS PLU Levels: •Log on to the POS terminal •If table floorplans are used, click the Over The Counter Sale button; •Press the Set POS PLU Levels button. Note: This button needs to be added onto the Product Keypad using a Set POS PLU Levels keypad button. See section Polygon POS Management > Product Keypad Details > Keypad Button Details > Other Keys > Set POS PLU Levels for more information about adding this button to the product keypad. •Enter your Password. Note: This feature is only available to staff members who have been granted the Set POS PLU Levels privilege. See section Polygon POS Management > POS Staff Details > Privileges for more information about granting this privilege to POS Staff.

As the portions are sold or saved to an open table, the number will decrease thereby making the staff aware of the availability of the item. If you have programmed the Location System Setting, ‘Deny sales if PLU level is zero’, the user cannot save a sale containing an item that has reached zero. If this setting is not enabled, the level number can go into negative value – depicted in brackets in the PLU Levels File, and as -2@ on the keypad button.
