A PLU (Price Look Up) essentially gives each individual item that is to be sold an identity within the system. A PLU needs to be created to enable something to be sold. The system uses the PLU number (generated automatically when a new PLU is added) to correctly identify each individual item.
The following options are available from the PLU File: •To create a new PLU - Click on the New button, this loads the PLU Item Details form where you can enter the new PLU deatils; Handy Hint: To make data entry a more streamlined process you can take advantage of the New From functionality. By selecting an existing PLU and clicking on the New From button, the PLU being created will automatically be loaded with some of the same settings as the selected PLU. This is useful in cases where PLUs share the same characteristics (eg. belonging to the same category) are being entered. •To edit an existing PLU - Highlight the PLU and click on the Change button to make the desired changes from the PLU Item Details form; •To delete an existing PLU - Highlight the PLU and then click on the Delete button. Note: It is strongly suggested that PLUs are not deleted because this can affect historical sales records. Instead PLUs should be made inactive when they are no longer being sold. To make a PLU inactive: Highlight the PLU, click on the Change button to access the PLU Item Details form and un-tick the Active box. Then click OK; •Reload List - This button is used in multi-user installations where multiple users may be entering data at the same time. Clicking this button will refresh the displayed data and show any changes made by other users; •To Print - Clicking on the Print button generates a PDF report which shows the currently listed PLUs. This report can be saved, printed or converted to CSV format. •Find - To search for a particular PLU or PLU Number, type part of, or all of the PLU's name or number into the Find box. The system will highlight the first listed item to contain this string in its name or number. Note: The search only applies to currently displayed items. If an item has been filtered out it will not be included in the search. See the Filters section below. •Find Next - use the Find Next button (the right pointing arrow next to the Find field) to advance to the next match found, and continue to scroll through all matches found for the Find criteria.
When using Find | Find Next: •First match is to an exact match in PLU name from left to right •Second match is to content in PLU Name •Third match is to content in PLU Number
