The General tab is then further divided into four sections: General, Modules, Virtual Brands and External Web Menu Ordering Interfaces.
The General section contains information that the system needs to communicate with the POS terminals for a location.
Store ID is the location number of this site within the system hardware setting of the Head Office database. This setting is used only for multi-location franchise environments.
Location Name
Type the name you wish to give this POS Location.
Active
Locations can be set to Active or Inactive by ticking or un-ticking this tick box. Making a location inactive indicates it is not currently in active use. If the location is needed at a later date it can be re-activated by ticking this tick box again. Making a location inactive is a better solution than deleting it because it preserves any records relating to the location.
Department (Multi-Department Users Only)
This option determines which department revenue and stock transactions from this terminal are recorded to.
Note: This will default to Admin if you do not have multi-departmental license for Polygon Back Office.
If you do have multi-departmental Polygon Back Office you may wish to assign POS Locations to different departments. If you will be using this setting to specify which department sales form this location will be recorded against, enable the POS terminals inherit the parent POS location department location setting in Polygon POS Management > POS Location Settings - Add on Modules.
See section Polygon Back Office > Accounts > Department Accounts File for more information about adding and managing departments.
Location Type
The three options for Location Type are described below:
•Corporate Store
A corporate store is also referred to as a company-owned store. Updates from headquarters are received at this location type by the master POS Terminal via either a LAN or Internet connection.
•Partner Store
A partner store is also referred to as an independent franchise. Updates from headquarters are received at this location type by the master POS Terminal via an Internet connection. There is a separate back-of-house that allows the partner to manage Local files (see section POS Updates).
Connection Type
The connection type refers to how Polygon POS Management will communicate with the POS Terminals. In other words, how the back-of-house will communicate with the front-of-house and vice versa. Options are:
•Local Area Network
The terminals for this location, as well as the PC on which Polygon POS Management resides are connected on a Local Area Network and will utilise this network connection to communicate
•Internet
In this instance, communication is via the Internet. Both the back of house PC with Polygon POS Management and one of the terminals in this location connect to the internet and lodge data in a secure repository there for the other to download.
Modules
If the Polygon Promo Player is required at this location ensure this setting is ticked ON.
Virtual Brands
If required, use the pick list button on the Brand Name field to select the relevant brand name from the Brands File.
Indicate this location is a Virtual Location by placing a tick in the Virtual Location box.
Choose from the Target Physical Location pick list the location to which orders for this virtual location will be directed.
For detailed information on Virtual Brands please see the section: Virtual Brands
External Web Menu Ordering Interfaces
Place a tick against any external web menu provider for which the interface is active for this location. Note: only those Web Menu Ordering providers for which the databse has active module licensing will be available.
